TCF Canada · exam rule

Does TCF Canada have negative marking?

No. Only correct Listening and Reading answers count; a wrong answer or no answer counts 0. The final 100–699 score is calibrated for question difficulty, so it is not a simple percentage of 39.

France Éducation International states that for TCF multiple-choice tests, only correct answers count; an incorrect answer and an unanswered question both count 0. There is therefore no extra deduction for guessing. If time is nearly over, answer every remaining Listening and Reading item.

The raw number correct is not converted with one fixed “X correct = Y score” table. A scale is applied to correct answers that accounts for question difficulty, producing the reported 100–699 comprehension score. This is why unofficial raw-score calculators cannot promise an exact TCF Canada result.

Listening has another important constraint: each recording is played once, and the question is presented after the audio. Practise committing to an answer and moving on; leaving an item blank cannot protect your score.
