Hi Priya, I hope you and the kids are doing well! I wanted to tell you about something new I discovered last weekend that I think your family would love. Remember how you mentioned wanting to buy more local produce this summer? Well, our neighbourhood finally started its own farmers market. It runs every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot behind the community centre on Maple Street, right where the old skating rink used to be. It started three weeks ago and will continue until the Thanksgiving weekend in October. I went for the first time this past Saturday, and I was honestly amazed at how much was there. There were about twenty-five vendors set up under white tents, selling everything from strawberries and sweet corn to fresh-baked sourdough bread and homemade jam. One stall even sold maple syrup straight from a farm about an hour outside the city. Prices were a little higher than the grocery store, but the quality was so much better that I didn't mind paying extra. I ended up spending about forty dollars and came home with a full bag of vegetables, a jar of honey, and a bouquet of sunflowers. What I liked most was that many vendors let you sample their food before buying, which made it easy to decide what to get. There's also a small area with a coffee truck and a few picnic tables, so you can sit and relax while the kids run around on the grass nearby. Parking can get tight after 10 a.m., so I'd suggest arriving early if you go. Would you like to join me this Saturday? We could make a morning of it and grab breakfast afterward. Let me know!
