Subject: Question about adopting Biscuit Hi Rosa, Thanks so much for sending me the profile for Biscuit, the three-year-old terrier mix at Maple Ridge Animal Rescue. My daughter and I looked through his photos last night, and he's already won us over. Before we submit the adoption application, though, I have a few questions I hope you can answer, since you fostered him for the last two months. First, how is Biscuit around children? My daughter is seven, and while she's careful with animals, I want to be sure he's used to kids before we bring him home. Second, I noticed on the shelter's website that he's listed as "reactive to other dogs on leash." Could you tell me more about what that looks like in practice? We walk past a lot of dogs in our neighbourhood, and I want to know what to expect. I should also mention that we live in a two-bedroom apartment on the third floor, with no elevator. Is that going to be a problem for a dog his size? He looks fairly solid in the pictures, and I don't want to bring him home only to find the stairs are too much for his joints. Finally, the rescue's website says there is a $250 adoption fee, and that it covers vaccinations and neutering, but not the microchip. Is that still accurate, or has the fee structure changed recently? If everything checks out, we'd like to visit him at the shelter this Saturday afternoon, around 2 p.m., before we complete the paperwork. Please let me know if that works, or suggest another time.
