TEXT A — Riverside Greenway Cycle Path — Notice to Users
Welcome to the Riverside Greenway, a shared route open daily from 6 am until dusk. This is a two-way path used by cyclists, walkers and horse riders, so please keep to the left at all times and pass others on the right. A bell or a friendly call warns people ahead before you overtake. The speed limit for bicycles is 15 km/h, and slower still where the path narrows near the old mill bridge. Dogs are welcome but must remain on a lead no longer than two metres. Please do not leave litter; bins are provided at each of the three car parks. Between November and February, sections of the surface may be icy in the early morning, and grit is not applied, so ride with extra care. The path is closed without notice when the river floods; check greenway alerts online before you set out. Repairs are carried out on weekday mornings, and diversions are signed in yellow. For your own safety, lights are required after dark, though we recommend leaving before the light fades. Report a fallen tree or damaged surface to the ranger on 0800 114 226, and please do not attempt to move heavy debris yourself.

TEXT B — Pedal Forward — Guided Evening Rides
Join Pedal Forward for relaxed group rides along the county cycle network every Wednesday and Friday through the summer. Our rides suit anyone who can manage a gentle 20-kilometre loop; you do not need to be fast, as the group always waits at the top of each hill. A qualified leader rides at the front and a second volunteer follows at the back, so nobody is ever left behind. Rides depart from the Canal Basin car park at 6.30 pm sharp and return before 9 pm. Bring a working front and rear light, as part of the route passes through a tunnel. Helmets are strongly encouraged but are the rider’s own choice. We can lend a limited number of helmets and high-visibility vests if you ask when booking. The cost is £4 per ride, or £30 for a season pass covering all summer dates. Booking closes at noon on the day of the ride. Riders under sixteen must be accompanied by an adult. In heavy rain the ride is cancelled and your payment is carried over to the next session. Book through our website or phone 01572 448 190.

TEXT C — Cycle Hire at Harbour Point — Information
Harbour Point Cycles rents bicycles from the kiosk beside the ferry terminal. We open at 9 am and the last hire goes out ninety minutes before we close, which is 6 pm in summer and 4 pm in winter. Standard adults’ bikes, children’s bikes, tandems and electric bikes are available, along with child seats and trailers fitted free of charge. A one-hour hire of a standard bike costs £6; a full day is £18. Electric bikes cost double. We ask for a £20 deposit, returned when the bike comes back undamaged. Every hire includes a helmet, a lock and a route map at no extra cost. Please return bicycles to the same kiosk; there is a charge if a bike is left elsewhere and we must collect it. Riders must be at least twelve years old to hire alone. We do not take bookings for single bikes, but tandems and electric bikes can be reserved by phone a day ahead. If a bike develops a fault during your hire, call the number on your receipt and we will bring a replacement to you free of charge.
