TEXT Text A — Riverbend Community Centre — Autumn Program
RIVERBEND COMMUNITY CENTRE — AUTUMN PROGRAM
Riverbend Community Centre reopens its doors on Monday 8 September after the summer refurbishment. All rooms have been repainted, and the main hall now has a new sprung floor suitable for dance and exercise classes.
Membership is not required to attend most sessions, but members receive a ten per cent discount on all paid classes and priority booking for popular activities. Annual membership costs £18 for adults and £9 for anyone under sixteen or over sixty-five.
Please note that our reception desk is now staffed from 8.30 am until 7.00 pm on weekdays, and from 9.00 am until 1.00 pm on Saturdays. The centre is closed on Sundays and on all public holidays.
Parking behind the building is free for the first two hours; after that a charge of £1.50 per hour applies. Cyclists will find covered racks near the side entrance on Mill Lane.
If you would like to receive our monthly newsletter by email, please leave your details at reception or sign up through the noticeboard in the foyer. Printed copies are available for anyone who prefers them.

Beginners' Pottery runs on Tuesday evenings from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm in the Craft Room. The course lasts eight weeks and costs £64, which includes all clay and use of the kiln. Places are limited to twelve, so early booking is advised.
Gentle Yoga takes place every Wednesday morning at 10.00 am. This class is designed for older adults and those recovering from injury, and mats are provided. There is no need to book; simply arrive ten minutes early to sign in.
Our Saturday Family Cooking sessions are back by popular demand. Running from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon, they welcome children aged seven and above, each accompanied by one adult. The fee of £12 covers ingredients for two people.
Conversation Café, a free weekly drop-in for adults learning English, meets on Thursday afternoons at 2.00 pm in the Reading Room. Volunteers lead relaxed discussions on everyday topics, and refreshments are provided at no cost.
Please be aware that the Beginners' Pottery and Family Cooking sessions cannot be paid for on the day. Payment must be made in advance, either online or at reception.

TEXT Text C — Volunteer With Us — Notice from the Coordinator
VOLUNTEER WITH US — NOTICE FROM THE COORDINATOR
Riverbend depends on the generosity of local volunteers, and we are currently looking for people to join our friendly team this autumn.
We especially need help in the community garden on Monday and Friday mornings. No gardening experience is necessary, as our lead volunteer will show you everything you need to know. Sturdy footwear is recommended, and tools are supplied.
We are also seeking assistants for the after-school homework club, which runs term-time only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.30 pm. Applicants for this role must be over eighteen and will be asked to complete a background check before starting. This process usually takes about three weeks, so please apply in good time.
All volunteers receive a short induction and are covered by the centre's insurance while on duty. We ask for a commitment of at least two hours per week for a minimum of three months, although many of our helpers stay far longer.
To express your interest, collect a form from reception or email the volunteer coordinator, Priya Nadkarni, at [email protected]. We hold informal welcome mornings on the first Monday of each month, and you are warmly invited to come along and see what we do.
