TEXT A — Riverdale Neighbourhood Festival — Programme of Events Riverdale Community Association is proud to present our fourteenth annual street festival, held this year across the whole of Millbrook Green and the surrounding lanes. The fun begins on Saturday 9 August at ten in the morning, when the mayor officially opens the gates, and runs right through until dusk on Sunday. Entry is free for everyone, though a small donation at the welcome tent is always appreciated and goes straight back into next year's event. The main stage, positioned beside the old bandstand, hosts live music from noon onwards, with local choirs in the early afternoon and a swing band closing each evening. Families should head for the meadow, where a supervised play zone, a petting corner and a giant sandpit will keep younger visitors busy. Please note that dogs are welcome on the green but must be kept on a lead near the food stalls. Parking on Chapel Street is extremely limited, so we strongly encourage guests to arrive by bus or bicycle; secure cycle racks are available beside the library. Lost property and first aid can both be found at the marquee near the north entrance. A printed programme, listing every act and workshop with its start time, is on sale for one pound at each gate, and all proceeds support the association. ———————————— TEXT B — Craft Stalls and Vendor Information Are you a maker, grower or small trader? We are still accepting applications for stall space at this year's festival. A standard pitch measures three metres by two metres and costs forty pounds for the full weekend, or twenty-five pounds for Saturday only. Electricity hook-ups are available for an extra twelve pounds but must be requested in advance, as the number of powered pitches is capped at fifteen. All food vendors are required to submit a valid hygiene certificate no later than 25 July; applications without this document cannot be processed. Please bring your own gazebo, tables and change float, as none of these are supplied. Setting up may begin from seven o'clock on the Saturday morning, and all vehicles must be clear of the green by half past nine, when the public are admitted. Traders selling handmade goods are asked to display a short card explaining their process, which visitors always enjoy reading. To reserve a pitch, complete the online form on our website or collect a paper copy from the library help desk. Confirmed vendors will receive a numbered map by email in the final week showing exactly where to unload and where their allocated space sits. ———————————— TEXT C — Volunteer Rota and Shift Sign-up The festival simply could not happen without our wonderful volunteers, and this year we need more helpers than ever before. Roles range from greeting guests at the entrance and pouring teas in the refreshment tent to guiding the fun run and helping the sound crew pack away on Sunday night. No experience is necessary for most positions; a friendly manner and a bit of energy are all that count. Shifts last three hours, and anyone giving two or more shifts across the weekend receives a free festival T-shirt and a voucher for the hot-food stalls. Volunteers must be at least sixteen years old, and those under eighteen need a signed consent slip from a parent or guardian. A short briefing will take place in the church hall on Thursday 7 August at seven in the evening; attendance is compulsory for anyone handling cash or working with children. If you cannot make the briefing, please contact the coordinator, Priya Sandhu, who will arrange an alternative session over the telephone. Sign up using the wall chart in the library foyer or send your preferred roles and times by email. Remember to wear sturdy shoes and bring a waterproof, whatever the forecast promises, and do bring a refillable bottle, as free drinking water is available at every tent.
