TEXT A — Riverside Greenway — Path Users' Notice RIVERSIDE GREENWAY — SHARED PATH NOTICE The Greenway runs for eleven kilometres between Milford Lock and the old station yard at Kenton. It is open to walkers, cyclists, wheelchair users and horse riders every day of the year, from dawn until dusk. There is no charge to use the path. Keep to the left at all times, and pass others on the right. Because the surface is shared, cyclists must give way to those on foot and to horses. A bell or a friendly call warns people before you overtake; do not assume that a walker has heard you approaching from behind. Speed is limited to 15 kilometres per hour along the whole route, and to walking pace wherever the path narrows or crosses a bridge. The three humpback bridges over the mill streams have blind corners, so slow right down and expect someone coming the other way. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a short lead between the Milford car park and Ashby Meadow, where ground-nesting birds breed in spring. The surface is compacted gravel, not tarmac, and can be slippery after heavy rain. There is no lighting after dark. Litter bins are provided only at the two car parks; please carry everything else home with you. ———————————— TEXT B — Kenton Cycle Hire — Advertisement KENTON CYCLE HIRE — RIDE THE GREENWAY WITHOUT THE HASSLE Why struggle to fit a bike in the car? Hire one from us at the Kenton end of the Greenway and set off the moment you arrive. Our fleet includes adult hybrids, children's bikes, tag-alongs for younger riders and three electric bikes for those who would rather let the motor do the climbing. Every hire includes a helmet, a lock and a repair kit at no extra cost. Panniers and child seats are available on request but must be booked at least a day ahead, as we hold only a few of each. Half-day hire (up to four hours) costs £12 for an adult bike and £8 for a child's. A full day is £18 and £11. The electric bikes are £30 for the day, with no half-day rate. A family ticket — two adults and up to three children — is £45 for the full day and is our best value. We are open from 9am to 6pm, seven days a week from March to October, and weekends only through the winter. The last bikes go out ninety minutes before closing so that everyone has time to return safely. A £20 deposit, refunded on return, is taken for each bike. Booking online saves ten per cent. ———————————— TEXT C — Guided Rides — Spring Programme GREENWAY GUIDED RIDES — SPRING PROGRAMME Join one of our volunteer leaders for a sociable ride at a gentle, unhurried pace. All rides start and finish at the Milford car park unless stated otherwise. Bring your own bike or hire one nearby. DAWN CHORUS RIDE — Saturday 12 April, 6.00am. A quiet early ride to Ashby Meadow to listen for warblers and cuckoos, returning by 8.30am. Best for confident riders; the light is still dim at the start. FAMILY WILDFLOWER RIDE — Sunday 4 May, 10.30am. A short, flat loop of six kilometres, stopping often to look at hedgerow flowers. Suitable for children aged eight and over who can ride steadily. Finishes around 12.30pm. SUNSET HERITAGE RIDE — Friday 23 May, 7.00pm. A relaxed ride to the old station yard, with a talk about the railway that once ran here. Lights required, as we return after dark. Not suitable for under-twelves. All rides are free, but places are limited and must be reserved by telephone by the Wednesday before. Rides go ahead in light rain but are cancelled in high wind; check our website the evening before if the weather looks doubtful.
