TEXT Text A — Greenford District Council — Weekly Kerbside Collection GREENFORD DISTRICT COUNCIL — WEEKLY KERBSIDE COLLECTION Please place your bins at the edge of your property by 6.30 am on collection day. Bins put out after this time may be missed, and crews are unable to return until the following week. Your grey general-waste bin is emptied every Wednesday. Your green bin, for garden clippings and food scraps, is collected on alternate Fridays; consult the calendar posted through your door in January for exact dates. The blue recycling box is taken every Monday. Recycling must be loose, never bagged. Rinse jars and tins before adding them. We accept paper, cardboard, glass bottles, and clean plastic containers marked 1, 2 or 5. We cannot process plastic film, polystyrene trays, or drinking glasses. Missed a collection because your bin was blocked by a parked vehicle? Report it online within 24 hours and a crew will be sent. During public holidays, collections usually shift one day later; watch the Council website for confirmed changes. Bins that are overfilled, with lids that will not close, are left unemptied for the safety of our staff. Surplus waste can be taken to the Ferndale tip free of charge on presentation of a resident's permit. ———————————— TEXT Text B — Kit Out Your Kitchen — The Caddy Swap Event KIT OUT YOUR KITCHEN — THE CADDY SWAP EVENT Tired of scraping leftovers into the ordinary rubbish? Come along to our free Caddy Swap and go home with everything you need to keep food waste out of the ground. WHEN: Saturday 18 May, 9 am to 2 pm WHERE: The old library forecourt, Maple Street COST: Nothing — but bring proof that you live in the borough Every household attending receives a vented kitchen caddy, a starter roll of compostable liner bags, and a laminated guide showing what can and cannot go in. Bring your worn-out old caddy and we will recycle the plastic on the spot. Staff from the Waste Team will be there all day to answer questions. There will be a live demonstration of the new wormery kits at 11 am and again at 1 pm, and children can pot up a sunflower seedling to take away. Liner bags run out fast, so early arrival is wise. Those who cannot attend may collect a caddy from the Civic Centre reception on weekdays throughout June, while stocks last. Please note the Maple Street car park is closed for resurfacing; use the Broad Lane multi-storey, a five-minute walk away. ———————————— TEXT Text C — Bulky Item and Electrical Pick-up — How It Works BULKY ITEM AND ELECTRICAL PICK-UP — HOW IT WORKS Got an old sofa, a broken fridge, or a mattress you can no longer store? Our bulky collection service removes large items you cannot fit in your ordinary bins. Book online or by phone at least three working days ahead. Each booking covers up to three items for a flat fee of 22 pounds; extra items are 6 pounds each. Payment is taken when you book, and the reference number you receive must be quoted if you later change the date. On the morning of collection, leave the items in your front garden or in an agreed accessible spot by 7 am. Items left behind a locked gate cannot be taken. Fridges and freezers must have doors taped shut. We do not remove building rubble, tyres, paint tins, or garden sheds; these must go to the household waste centre. Working items in good condition are passed to a local reuse charity rather than being crushed, so please tell us if something still functions. Concessionary rates apply to residents receiving certain benefits — have your award letter to hand when booking. Refunds are given only if we fail to collect on the agreed day.
