The two maps below show an area of the Elmdale district before and after it was redeveloped to improve waste management. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Before redevelopment
- A large open rubbish dump in the centre of the site
- Overgrown wasteland along the eastern edge
- A row of derelict warehouses in the south-west corner
- A single dirt track leading in from the main road
- No perimeter fence and no bins provided
After redevelopment
- A sorting hall for recyclable materials where the dump was
- Rows of colour-coded recycling bins on the eastern side
- A small composting plant in place of the warehouses
- A paved access road replacing the dirt track
- A security fence enclosing the site, with a staffed entrance gate
