Put the sentences in the correct order:

  1. If the heat persists and the algae do not return, the starved corals eventually die, and the reef collapses.
  2. When the surrounding water grows too warm, however, the stressed corals expel these algae and turn ghostly white.
  3. The algae supply the corals with food through photosynthesis, while the corals offer them shelter and nutrients.
  4. This abundance depends on a partnership between the corals and tiny algae that live inside their tissues.
