Arrange the sentences into the correct order.

Put the sentences in the correct order:

  1. Only after this initial firing can glaze be applied and the pot returned to the kiln for the final firing that gives it color and shine.
  2. The trimmed piece is then left to dry completely before its first firing in the kiln, which hardens the clay into a durable ceramic form.
  3. After the piece has dried to a leather-hard state, the potter trims away excess clay from the base to achieve a clean, even foot.
  4. Once the clay is evenly consistent, it is centered on the spinning wheel and drawn upward with wet hands to form the walls of the vessel.
  5. Before a lump of clay can be shaped on the wheel, a potter must knead it thoroughly in a process known as wedging, which removes trapped air pockets.
