Losing a transit pass can be reported through the transit authority's app or by calling customer service during business hours. Once a loss is reported, the pass is deactivated within minutes to prevent anyone else from using the remaining balance or monthly pass benefit. Riders who reported the loss through the app can request a replacement card, which arrives by mail in five to seven business days and automatically transfers any remaining balance from the lost card. There is a replacement fee of eight dollars, waived only for riders enrolled in the reduced-fare program for seniors and students. Until the replacement arrives, riders may buy single-ride paper tickets at full price, since these are not eligible for a refund even after the new card arrives. Riders are advised to register their card online in advance, since an unregistered card cannot have its balance protected if lost.
