The parent council at Maple Grove Elementary is organizing its annual bake sale fundraiser next Saturday to help cover the cost of new playground equipment. Parents and guardians are asked to sign up in advance to bring baked goods, and organizers are requesting that all labels clearly list ingredients because several children at the school have nut and dairy allergies. Items without an ingredient list will unfortunately have to be turned away at the door, since volunteers cannot guarantee the safety of unlabeled food. This year, the sale will also accept debit and credit cards for the first time, in addition to cash, after several parents mentioned they rarely carry cash anymore. Volunteers are still needed for setup at 8 a.m., running the tables during the sale, and packing up afterward. Last year's sale raised just over two thousand dollars, and organizers hope to beat that total this year with a wider variety of treats and the new payment options. All proceeds go directly toward the playground fund, and a running total will be posted in the school newsletter the following week.
