Metro Rail Transit has updated its refund policy for train tickets purchased through its mobile app and website. Passengers who cancel a ticket at least two hours before departure will receive a full refund automatically credited back to their original payment method within five business days. Cancellations made less than two hours before departure, but before the train actually leaves the station, will receive a partial refund of 50 percent, since the seat may no longer be resold in time. Once a train has departed, tickets become non-refundable, although passengers who missed a train due to a documented Metro Rail delay on a connecting service can apply for a full refund by submitting a claim form within 14 days. Paper tickets bought at station kiosks must be refunded in person at a staffed ticket counter, since the app cannot process refunds for tickets not purchased digitally. Metro Rail says the changes are meant to make refunds faster and more predictable for everyday commuters, while still protecting the system from last-minute cancellations that leave seats empty on popular routes.
