Westbrook Public Library — Card Renewal Reminder All library cards issued before January of last year are due for renewal this month. Renewing your card takes only a few minutes and can be done in three ways: in person at the front desk with a piece of government ID, online through the library's website using your card number and postal code, or by phone during regular branch hours. Renewal is free for residents of the region, while non-resident cardholders pay a small annual fee to continue borrowing physical items. Cards that are not renewed within 30 days of the reminder notice will be temporarily suspended, meaning you won't be able to borrow books, use the public computers, or reserve study rooms until the renewal is completed. However, suspended cards can be reactivated at any time afterward with no penalty, so there's no need to worry if you miss the deadline. Digital services, including e-books and the online research database, will remain accessible even on a suspended card for a short grace period. Staff recommend renewing sooner rather than later, especially for families who rely on the library for children's programs, since some upcoming summer activities require an active card number to register.
