A Note to All Staff: Office Recycling Rules. To reduce contamination in our recycling bins, please follow these updated guidelines starting Monday. Blue bins are for paper and cardboard only; flatten boxes before placing them inside. Green bins accept clean plastic bottles, cans, and glass jars, but lids should be removed and placed in the general waste bin unless they are metal. Food-soiled items, such as used napkins or greasy pizza boxes, cannot be recycled and belong in the black general waste bin instead. Coffee cups are not recyclable through this program because of their plastic lining, even though the cup itself looks like paper. Each kitchen on every floor will have clearly labeled bins along with a small poster showing examples. Facilities staff will check bins weekly, and departments with repeated contamination will receive a friendly reminder email along with extra signage. The goal is not to penalize anyone but to keep our recycling stream clean enough that it actually gets recycled rather than sent to landfill. Questions can be directed to the Facilities team.
