ROOMMATE AGREEMENT UPDATE: SPLITTING GROCERY COSTS. After several months of informally splitting grocery bills, our household has agreed on a clearer system to avoid confusion and awkward conversations about money. Starting this month, each roommate will contribute an equal share into a shared account at the beginning of the month, rather than reimbursing each other after every shopping trip. Whoever does the shopping that week will pay directly from this shared account using the linked debit card, and receipts should be kept in the folder on the fridge in case anyone wants to review spending. Personal items such as snacks, toiletries, or specialty foods that only one person eats should still be purchased separately and are not to be charged to the shared account. If the shared account runs low before the end of the month, whoever notices first should mention it in the group chat rather than covering the shortfall alone and expecting reimbursement later. Any large or unusual purchase, such as bulk items for a shared event, should be discussed with everyone first. We will review this system after two months to see whether the contribution amount needs to be adjusted based on actual spending.
