CELPIP General vs CELPIP General LS — which one do I need for PR?
For permanent residence and Express Entry you need CELPIP-General (all four skills). CELPIP-General LS — Listening and Speaking only — is accepted ONLY for Canadian citizenship, not for PR or Express Entry.
CELPIP comes in two versions. CELPIP-General tests all four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) and is the one IRCC accepts for permanent residence and Express Entry. CELPIP-General LS tests only Listening and Speaking and is accepted only for Canadian citizenship applications.
People book LS by mistake because it's shorter and cheaper, and the names are almost identical. But an LS result cannot be used for a PR application — Express Entry needs a score in all four skills.
What to do: if you're applying for PR, book CELPIP-General (the full four-skill test). Only choose General LS if your sole purpose is a citizenship application, where the LS version is sufficient and saves time.
